Island Spirit Kayak provides upbeat, eco-friendly kayak tours on the islands of Martha ’s Vineyard and Cuttyhunk. Our goal is to introduce the natural beauty of these islands through low impact observation while providing a fun and safe activity. Our high-spirited staff of dedicated kayakers are professional and thoughtful, making each tour a fun and exciting experience for every level. In addition to tours, Island Spirit is involved in annual island kayak races, events, parades, and fundraisers to benefit youth groups and charitable organizations.

We welcome beginners, seasoned kayakers, and those who return to Martha’s Vineyard year after year to paddle with us. Our tours visit all areas of the island including sunsrise breakfast tours around the Aquinnah Cliffs, sunset hor’s duerves paddles in Edgartown Harbor in front of the historic lighthouse, full moon paddles in the phosphorescence of Menemsha Pond, full day ocean adventures to Cape Pogue on Chappaquiddick island, and half day Sengeckontacket Pond adventures in the estuaries and quahog beds of the wildlife sanctuary.

We also offer specialty tours and courses to the fireworks, workout paddles, fishing adventures, race clinics, surf lessons, ACA certification courses, kids Kayak Kamp, and Peddle Paddle tours, just to mention a few.

Special Events

Island Spirit Kayak is also excited to support the many paddling events offered this season, all of which help support non-profit Vineyard organizations including; Martha ’s Vineyard Community Services, Friends of Sengeckontacket, Vineyard Nursing Association, the Preservation Trust, and the Martha ’s Vineyard YMCA. No Experience Required

Many of our guests are first time paddlers. Our tours accommodate all levels of skill and ability. We ask only that you bring your spirit of adventure and a healthy sense of humor. Before each kayak tour there is an instructional session to familiarize you with your equipment and paddling techniques. You will then have the opportunity to practice your new skills on the tour with a game of Kayak Ultimate Frisbee!

We Provide

Top quality kayaks and paddles, all safety equipment & instruction, certified open-water instructors, local history and marine wild life identification.
